Abstract :
A unique reciprocal, balanced, interferrometric, four diode sampling architecture is described, in which two correlated samples are taken for each cycle of the LO (sample clock). The time skew between samples is adjustable, which allows a wide range of applications both as a correlating sampler and a monocycle pulse generator. Applications areas include: UWB QAM signal generation and detection, image reject mixing, correlated double sampling, clock recovery, and jitter analysis.
