Abstract :
The mobility and drift velocity of electrons and ions are of interest whenever the parameters of gas discharge devices are to be determined. In the authors´ measurements, drift velocity and mobility of the carriers of charge were determined in argon and in argon with 1%, of carbon dioxide, using media of ultra-high purity. The measurements were performed at approximately atmospheric pressure and at temperature ranging from twenty to eighty centigrade. The mobility data obtained in this study can be used for the determination of the voltage-current characteristics and other parameters of corona discharges. The data are of interest to those who study the physical phenomena in DC and pulsed corona discharges
