Abstract :
Stator flux can be estimated from the stator current, or by integrating Vs-Rsis. The two flux estimates do not agree if there is an error in the rotor time constant. The authors analyze the relative angular positions of the two estimates for various cases. Based on the analysis, they develop an index from the stator estimates and q-axis stator current that indicates the polarity of the rotor time constant estimation error. The index is utilized for the rotor time constant update algorithm. The authors demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method through computer simulation and experiment results
