Abstract :
This paper presents an online system monitoring partial discharge (PD) of large power transformers based on digital signal processing. This system will aid in the automatic detection of internal incipient faults in the transformers by employing the method which the Electrical Research Association (ERA) came up with. Furthermore, the system can provide information to predict failures ahead of time so that the necessary corrective actions are taken to prevent outages and reduce down times.
