Abstract
The authors propose an adaptive clustering algorithm for use in a self-organizing communication network. It can automatically create cluster heads and form clusters, and it can adapt the topological change of the network and reform the cluster heads and clusters. The total number of cluster heads is minimized and all of them are connected. By using this algorithm, a connected backbone network is obtained
