Abstract :
A novel automatic amplitude control circuit for VCO, charge-pump AAC (CP AAC), is presented in this paper. Better phase noise performance is achieved due to its inherent characteristic than the analog AAC. The simulation results indicate that 14.4dB phase noise improvement of VCO with charge-pump AAC at 10 KHz frequency offset is obtained compared to VCO with analog AAC, moreover, measurement results also show that the CP AAC has no contribution to the phase noise of VCO
