The practical use of a computerised partial discharge measuring system for online condition monitoring of high voltage stator windings

This paper describes the design and development of a computer aided online technique to enable the detection and identification of HV electric machine stator winding insulation problems by nonspecialized operators. This can help in the prevention of failure and enables the manufacturer and user to assess ageing and controlled outage of equipment. Typical examples of its application on machine insulating systems partial discharge measurements are also presented
