  • Abstract
    A piezoelectric multi-layer actuator has been studied for its suitability in a middle ear implant as a means of driving the ossicular chain directly. Results on human cadaveric temporal bones have shown that the actuator has some advantages as a hearing implant for ossicular chain stimulation and its loading effect on the normal middle ear function is not significant
