Abstract
Neurologists defined movement patterns to aid the diagnosis of different diseases, especially Parkinson´s disease. Subtle changes should be detected in the movement patterns of persons to aid the early diagnosis and to qualify the efficiency of medication. Human visual analysis is unable to detect subtle changes in the performance of a person. We have been using image-based motion analyzers to record the movement patterns. The applied signal processing evaluates the symmetry, periodicity and-if applicable-also the frequency and amplitude of the movements
