Abstract :
In this paper, the design and simulation results of a low power Colpitts VCO operating at 1.8GHz are presented, with the supply voltage as low as 1 V, using the 0.18mu CMOS process. The simulated performance characterizes in the power consumption of 2.5mW, the phase noise of -120dBc and -124.3dBc at offsets of 600KHz and 1 MHz, respectively, and a frequency tuning range of 10.3%. When it works with a Vdd of 0.8 V, the VCO consumes a power of 1.2 mW
