Abstract
In order to improve on the efficiency of traditional information retrieval, system architecture of retrieval-oriented, case-based ontology reasoning has been designed and implemented in this paper, by which the traditional information retrieval, CBR and ontology can be integrated. In this architecture, OWL was employed as the description language for ontology model; ontology cases were extracted from ontology library and stored in the case library. Consequently, the inquiry about ontology from the ontology library can be switched to the inquiry about case from the case library. The experimental results reveal that the precision and recall of domain-oriented knowledge retrieval has been obviously improved by virtue of powerful reasoning function of OWL and superior capability of CBR.
