Abstract :
In open electricity supply industry, power market simulation has been accepted as a versatile tool for effective information integration and realization of different functional modules in power markets. Based on the general structure of the electricity markets, a simulator for pool-model electricity markets is presented in this paper. A Browser/Client/Sever structure electricity market simulator is designed and developed based on the dot-net framework for calculating the market clearing prices and dispatching generation capacities for each participating generation company. Further applications include testing the effect of transmission constrain, exploring the interaction among the distributed units, and managing the network congestion and other main tasks of the wholesale electricity markets. A case study is presented to highlight all these features contained in the simulator.
