Abstract :
Summary form only given. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a timing and navigation service to provide quick and precise locations from the sub-meter to the 100 meter level. The differential GPS (DGPS) base station concept assumes that GPS errors present at the base GPS receiver are also present in equal amounts at a user GPS receiver. These errors can be computed either by post processing or processed real-time. Research conducted to evaluate the use of a real-time DGPS base station is presented. Of particular importance is what type of accuracy can be reasonably attained. The logistics required with a base station, as well as the type of hardware that is required, are explored.
