Abstract :
This paper describes a new technique for calculating the potential, leakage current and field distributions of polluted high voltage (HV) insulators. This technique is based on a new modelling of the boundary between wet and dry zones on the surface of polluted insulators. Surface charge simulation method (SCSM) and discrete charge simulation techniques are used to get the basic solution of the linear system of equations. An example of a two-dimensional case with a rotationally-symmetrical configuration shows the usefulness of the developed technique
