Abstract :
A balanced composite right/left-handed (CRLH) printed leaky-wave antenna (LWA) is proposed. The periodic structure is implemented in coplanar waveguide (CPW) technology. Periodic analysis is applied to unit cell in order to extract the dispersion and Bloch impedance characteristics. It is shown that although beam squinting is inevitable, higher operational frequency and loading element´s dimension lead to beam squinting minimization. The full-wave simulation results show acceptable agreement with circuit model. The antenna is designed to illuminate at thetasra=45 at 22 GHz. Finally 30 unit cells are arranged as an array to radiate 95% of input and full-wave simulation demonstrates good agreement with calculations.
