  • Abstract
    Based on the analysis of working mechanism of microstrip coupler, a new microstrip coupler with EBG structure has been proposed. The coupling degree of the new coupler is greatly enhanced due to the EBG structure. The coupler is demonstrated by the experiment and the measured coupling coefficient is in good agreement with the simulation results. The new coupler has the advantages of strong coupling and broadband working frequencies compared with traditional microstrip couplers. Meanwhile the coupler is with simple geometry and convenience for fabrication.
