Abstract
The comparison of two modes of excitation of the transmitting ultra wideband (UWB) short pulse (SP) antenna has been made in the given work. There have been considered situations when the energy is stored either in a concentrated capacitance or directly in the antenna itself. The results of experimental investigations demonstrating the advantage of energy storage directly in the antenna have been presented too. This mode of excitation permits to decrease considerably the energy consumed from the power supply during pulse generation
