Abstract
Overhead electric power lines are faced with the threat of lightning. Particularly, direct lightning is extremely severe for power lines. There are many grounding objects, such as reinforced concrete buildings and trees, around distribution power lines. It is considered that the grounding objects have a shielding effect on direct lightning. In this paper, the shielding effect of a reinforced concrete building on a distribution line has been studied by experiments on a reduced scale-model
