With the improvement of economy and society, more and more people keep focus on the safety in the area of medical and heath. Some pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins pose a serious threat on human health. So people urgently need to find some accurate and reliable methods to recognize and identify pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins quickly and effectively. This paper reviews the current microbial detection techniques used for molecular detection of microorganisms and the advantages and disadvantages and types of techniques. Some new technologies and the prospect in this area are also discussed.
