Abstract
This paper illustrates the principal modes of oscillation of the Colpitts oscillator depending on the value of the parameters. The theoretical predictions are verified by means of circuit experiments. This classification can be useful for design purposes in order to obtain either a nearly-sinusoidal waveform or a chaotic signal
