Abstract :
In this paper, synthetic functions expansion (SFX) method is employed for improving the efficiency of the method of moments (MoM) by reducing the number of unknowns. With the geometrical domain decomposition, the SFs are generated from the solution of each decomposed subdomain called block in isolation under excitation by manually defined extra sources. The precision is closely related with the definition of extra sources and how to obtain enough information from the response to all resources. This paper discusses some particular factors that affect the generation of SFs and the overall performance of EM scattering computation, the rules of dealing with these factors and controlling precision and efficiency are put forward and illustrated with a series of numerical results.
