Abstract :
This paper deals with evaluation of the performance of a frequency estimation algorithm used for computer-based frequency relaying. The algorithm is based on least squares error estimation (LS). Synthetic sine wave outputs are used for the evaluation. A microcontroller-based laboratory prototype is implemented to realize the least error squares (LS) based algorithm in real time. When the prototype is subjected to a number of tests, good response and high accuracy is achieved
