Abstract :
In order to improve performance of transport protocols in ad hoc network, a novel cross-layer flow control scheme is designed. This flow control technique integrates routing feedback of network layer, transport protocol and rate adaptive adjustment of application. By exchanging cross-layer information, applications can adjust its sending rate according to routing information fed back by network layer, and thus keeping network load at reasonable level to maximize network throughput. This cross-layer flow control scheme can be used for both UDP and TCP. This scheme is evaluated by using computer simulation and simulation results show that it can improve performance of UPD and TCP-based services, especially in case of low network load.
