Abstract :
This paper establishes a new location estimation method using the relationship between mean excess delay and delay spread in a wide band channel model for a wireless system. Once the delay spread is estimated, its value is used to correct the distance estimate in the maximum likelihood location equation. The location error is minimized if we know the error statistics introduced by NLOS propagation and measured noise. Compared with other methods, the proposed algorithm shows high accuracy.
