Abstract :
The IEEE 802.16e standard proposes a broadband wireless access network, which is aimed to serve a mixture of traffic types. As the standard leaves the data scheduling part open, we suggest a deficit-based scheduling scheme with an adaptive quantum for the network operating in TDD mode. Our scheme supports traffic in both downlink and uplink directions, with the guaranteed service amount defined by a minimum tolerable traffic rate, a standard QoS parameter. When traffic exceeds network resources, our scheme employs a fairness constraint to allocate bandwidth fairly. Simulation results prove that our scheme can improve fairness performance and provide equally low delay to traffic with diverse characteristics.
