Abstract :
Traffic flows on intersection approaches can be obtained by using automatic counting machines. Nowadays many methods have been proposed for obtaining estimates of turning flows from traffic counts of which the most popular uses a loop detector at the traffic intersections. Measurements of queue length and vehicle delays are important to determine the optimal traffic cycle, but the conventional traffic signal system doesn´t consider passenger car unit, offset, and saturation of upper road. So, 27-35% of estimated traffic cycle isn´t matched to the observed traffic cycle. In this paper, we improve the vehicle waiting time at the traffic intersection and prevent spillback using fuzzy logic
