  • Abstract
An anthropomorphic (human-like) head-phantom has been proposed in IEEE and IEC committees for industry-standardized testing to simulate radiation into the human head from wireless handsets. To investigate systematic biases resulting from shape and distance effects of the proposed phantom, a simple point-source analysis based on an inverse-distance-squared magnetic field roll-off is described. Four separate regions are delineated along the phantom head cross-section to minimize error depending on the relative location of the high-current density area within the handset. Implications for compliance testing of wireless handsets per the draft standard are discussed. Since the definitive phantom is still under IEEE committee consideration, the analysis and results for the specific phantom shape herein are intended to describe a methodology for the necessary derivation of distance-related SAR relative errors of any phantom shape
