Abstract
In this paper, we propose a high speed binomial congestion control protocol (HSBCC) for streaming video transmitting in high speed network environment, which is based on high speed TCP protocol (HSTCP) and binomial congestion control protocol (BCC). HSTCP offers an effective and robust mechanism for bulk data transmitting in high bandwidth-delay network. However it has a big rate oscillation when transmitting video data. BCC is a kind of rate control protocol which is suitable for streaming video and however it is TCP friendly and keeps the same low utilization as TCP in high-speed network environment. HSBCC employs the idea of BCC to smooth the rate and uses the response function of HSTCP to improve the fault of low link utilization of BCC. In the end, we emulate and evaluate HSBCC performance by using NS2.
