Abstract
Physical carrier sensing plays an important role in collision avoidance, and the physical carrier sensing threshold is one of key parameters to wireless networks performance. With a view to the challenge of energy-efficiency in wireless sensor networks, this paper presents a strategy for self-configuring physical carrier sensing threshold based on estimation of the background noise. By the simulation results, it is verified that the physical carrier sensing threshold evaluated by this strategy can work well under the conditions of different background noise.
