  • Abstract
At present, MCGs are the most powerful energy sources. Existing level of high technology as well as numerical simulation methods allow one to create MCGs with characteristics varying over a wide range of values, which gives new prospects for creation of compact MCGs for different pulsed power applications. By estimate, we select the circuit consisting of MCG, electroexplosive opening switch, pulse transformer and forming line (FL) with water insulation. MCG winding is connected in series with EEOS and primary winding of the transformer which is used as an intermediate inductive storage. By the end of MCG operation the current through the primary winding of the transformer is maximum. EEOS characteristics are properly chosen to set up wire explosion by this instance and to break the circuit of primary winding of the transformer. In result, in the secondary winding a high emf is induced, which allows one to charge the FL up to the voltage 450-500 kV during a short time period (approximately 200 ns).
