Abstract
A transmission line transformer (TLT) based on the use of ferrite beads is presented. This work aims at optimizing the performance of the voltage gain and the compactness of the TLT according to the position, the type and the number of ferrites used. The proposed design consists in threading the cables through ferrite beads. These ferrites decrease the effect of a parasitic short-circuit transmission line between the outer conductors of the coaxial cables of the TLT. The voltage gain achieved is optimum for a 2, 4 and two-stage transmission line transformer. The length of each cable is shorter than 1.5 m
