Abstract :
This paper gives the breakdown characteristics of transformer oil under highly nonuniform fields using point-to-plane electrode under different types of voltages (direct voltage, 50 Hz alternating voltage, lightning impulse voltage 1/50 μs and switching impulse voltage 200/2500 μs) using point-plane electrode configuration. The effect of gap spacing, polarity on the breakdown are presented for degassed oil, oxygen saturated oil and SF6 saturated oil
