Abstract
Multimodal images registration can be very helpful for diagnostic or therapeutic applications. However, even if a lot of registration algorithms exist, only a few really work in clinical routine. Most of them are based on surface matching. We developed a similar method and compared two famous minimization algorithms generally used in medical registration: the Powell´s one and the downhill simplex one. We improved some processing steps to allow a clinical use, and selected the downhill simplex algorithm which presented the best results. We also developed a new image display algorithm that merges multimodal informations while not only superimposing them
