Abstract :
Recently, a number of television broadcasters have tried to disseminate supplementary digital multimedia data in addition to the traditional audio-visual stream. The broadcast data need to be cached by a client system, to provide a reasonable response time for a user request. This paper proposes a cache management scheme for a client system in the data broadcasting environment. The proposed scheme determines the item to be replaced based on the miss penalty associated with the items. This scheme can be implemented with a low-complexity algorithm, while achieving a low response time for user requests
