Abstract :
This paper presents a dynamic programming formulation and sensitivity analysis for determining the optimal sensor locations to provide expressway travel times. Such influencing factors are our concern, independence on travel time errors for individual links; percentage of probe vehicles, travel time estimation methods. Numerical example is provided in this paper to illustrate the model and algorithm using public data from NGSIM.
