Abstract :
Summary form only given. In this paper, the twin torch plasma arc in a rated current of 30 to 100 A has been developed for the hazardous wastes. As a result, the high temperature region of the torch plasma arc is larger than it of a conventional single plasma torch. The plasma arc length can be changed as a function of plasma gas flow rate. The voltage of it is also changeable as functions of current, plasma gas flow rate and arc length. Finally, the medical wastes such as a hypodermic needle made of stainless and a squirt made of plastic were treated by the high temperature twin torch plasma arc. The hypodermic needle was melt and the squirt was vaporized and carbonized. Therefore, it could be applied for the hazardous waste treatment, especially the medical wastes.
