Abstract
While adaptive gradient descent algorithms for delay estimation are very attractive for their computational simplicity, when compared to generalized cross correlators they lack the improved performance obtained by prefiltering the noisy signals. We demonstrate how time-domain prefiltering with low computational cost can be accomplished when estimating the delay of a stochastic lowpass signal under additive white noise interference
