Abstract
A kriging method is presented as a spatial filter for smoothing gray-scale images corrupted by Gaussian white noise. The concepts are based on the analysis of semi-variances, and the linear combination scheme of kriging. Results which are obtained by the kriging filter are smoother and still preserve edges compared with those obtained by the adaptive Wiener filter
