Abstract :
In this paper, we present a wavelet based subband decomposition scheme. Since the wavelet decomposition can be implemented in terms of quadrature mirror filters (QMF), we have used Daubechies (1992) 4-tap filter for our work. By applying QMF bank we have split the full-band original image into 16 equally-divided subbands. The entropy of these bands is selected as a criteria for bit allocation of various bands
