Abstract :
The conduction of the electric power to the Zulia State is carried out through the 400 kV Tablazo-Cuatricentenario lines, with aluminum conductor. To know the corrosion problems, 17 tests\´ stations were placed and the atmosphere (ISO 9223-9225 Norms) was categorized. Corrosion products were evaluated in witness conductors; through the stereoscopic microscope and scanning electronic microscope and tests of lineal and cyclical polarization were applied. Results indicate that 80% of the stations are in an atmosphere C4, "high corrosiveness". The aluminum alloys presented multiple pits as a consequence of the presence of chlorides and sulfates. One concludes that the conductors are exposed in an atmosphere of high corrosiveness, presenting located attacks that could generate failure in the system if not being controlled. It is recommended to evaluate the possible change of the conductor for other more resistant one to the corrosion and to use a product hydro-carbide inhibited to fill the cable interstices
