Abstract :
The failures of computer networks usually consist of two modes: connective failures and congestion failures. Connective failures are resulted from the failures of links and nodes in the network. Congestive failures are due to the finite capability of the network to deal with the packets incoming. So reliabilities of the computer network are related not only with the topology of network and the reliabilities of components, but also with the configurations of nodes (e.g., capacities of buffer, strategies of path selection) and the packets flowing into the network. By setting up the queueing model, the node´s reliability varied with packets can be obtained. By searching and decomposing the network with the imperfect nodes, reliability of the network under the condition of congestion is obtained.
