Abstract
A knowledge based production line development management system framework for planning car body production line was presented through a careful analysis of planning features alone all the main stages. Product model, manufacturing resource model and process knowledge model based on product data management (PDM) theory were established respectively. The three models carried out the process information management of the product, manufacturing resource and process knowledge. Composed of the three models, a process relation model with an operation core was established to represent the production factors and their relations synthetically. Application of the process relation model shows that the planning framework fulfills the requirements of process information management and the reuse of process planning knowledge for car body production line planning, which definitely helps to improve the innovativity of domestic car manufacturers.
