Abstract :
In this paper the performance of a combined turbo coding and diversity in a hybrid direct-sequence/slow frequency hopping CDMA (DS/SFH CDMA) communication over fading mobile radio channel is considered. The paper shows that turbo codes have a built-in structure that is suitable for diversity techniques. In the scheme presented here, the binary input data to a rate 1/3 multiple turbo code encoder produces three coded bits, which, in turn, are assigned to two different antennas and then transmitted from each antenna simultaneously. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed scheme is studied by means of simulation for a quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) DS/SFH CDMA system on a nonfrequency selective Rayleigh fading channel
