Abstract
This paper describes the development of a control system based on PQ theory (instantaneous power) for the thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC). This theory has been successfully used in distribution networks for active filter control. The main advantage of this scheme is its fast response time, which allows almost instantaneous control in the line power flow. Simulated results obtained with the ATP-EMTP for different operating conditions are presented
