Abstract :
Necessary and sufficient conditions for square summability of 2D first-order digital filter transfer functions are given. It is shown that stability is a necessary and sufficient condition for square summability unless nonessential singularities of the second kind exist on the unit bicircle. A 1-D polynomial is defined which is unique for every first-order 2-D denominator polynomial, Using this polynomial, a simple procedure is given to check the square summability
