Author :
Schaadt, James L.
Abstract :
Cement plant process modifications require varying degrees of modifications to the plant power distribution system. These modifications come with their own set of challenges, problems, and opportunities. This paper serves as a case study based on what was done at the new Signal Mountain Cement plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where an outdated wet process plant was essentially replaced with state of the art process technology. This paper is divided into the following sections: history and overview of Signal Mountain Cement Company; overview of the old power distribution system; and overview of the new power distribution system.
