Abstract :
The Quinn Group´s new cement plant in the northern part of the Irish Republic, outside the small town of Ballyconnell and close to the Northern Ireland border, is now in full production. The new production line has now been in operation for 38 months. After a fast track proposal phase the contract was awarded. Immediately a strong professional team from supplier and producer was assembled and in May 2000 the first cement truck left the plant with cement produced on the new line. The plant quickly achieved performance test targets and then settled into daily reliable production. The factory is a world class manufacturing facility meeting the most stringent of environmental needs. The works are coloured coded to blend in with the natural green surrounds. The filtering systems are currently over specified, some by as much as 40% easily complying with any forthcoming strict European Legislation on emissions.
