Abstract :
This paper describes a new concept to control the output voltage of boost and buck-boost converters by combining some different control techniques such as input current prediction, output current feedforward and cycle-by-cycle (also called charge control) average-current control. The controller design is intended to force the output voltage to follow a time-varying reference signal such as a sinewave superimposed over a DC level (often called tracking control). Sliding-mode method is utilized but under a very simple form similar to the output current feedforward method because the converter model is now reduced to be only a first order system. Simulation results are shown for both boost and buck-boost converters in order to verify the control principle
