Abstract :
The article consists of a PowerPoint presentation on InP-based photonic devices. The areas discussed include: InP basics; transmitters; inline devices; receivers; and fiber-optic communications. The paper concludes that InP is a very powerful platform, giving efficient optical gain, high-speed switching and modulation with low voltages, and efficient high-speed detection. We can surely expect more monolithically integrated InP devices in the marketplace in the future as research and increasing volumes drive down the cost of InP.
