Abstract
The phase shift induced by cross phase modulation is measured using a Sagnac interferometer. The CW pumping beam less than 10 mW is intensity modulated with frequency f/sub 1/, and the interferometer is phase modulated with frequency f/sub 2/ different from f/sub 1/. In the RF spectrum of the Sagnac interferometer signal, a component of frequency f/sub 1/+f/sub 2/ is proportional to the optical nonlinear effect.
